Literature Text

Memories of people here-
the past and present life,
cannot lost one more, I fear
of falling deeper in this strife.
Always doing what is right
will surely keep us all alive.
You're in our thoughts each day and night;
you're the happiness we derive.
Growing weak, now, close your eyes,
and sleep will come to sway.
With a broken wing, you still fly
in the white clouds of each spring day.
A Senior that was pretty well know was hit by a drunk driver at our school. We all were told to write her a letter if we felt like it because she had a concussion and had been through surgery. I didn't know her well, but enough of her story came and fit into this poem. When it says: 'always doing what is right will surely keep us all alive', it's referring to when she pulled over because she heard sirens. That, and her seat belt, were the only reasons she lived. Think of her when you need strength. She's coming back to school, her head all shaved off and probably traumatized, in a little over a week.
