these days are numbered little one and soon they're sure to go
because every autumn took the leaves as winter brought the snow
we dance to the merriest of songs most innocent of calls
tis childhood the adventure we partook and now times stole it all.
but never fret my dear when you stare down the clock
ever tick we've absorbed is ripened to its tock
and every little game we brought down from overhead
gave memories we stored away and later took to bed
now childhood is the name and we all must play right and fair
soon all these little things will be left behind and we'll be too grown up to care...
